ZIMBABWE is strengthening its partnership with Japan as part of efforts to accelerate technological advancement and industrial innovation under the country’s national development agenda.
Vice President Kembo Mohadi continued his engagements at the Osaka Expo this Sunday, beginning with a visit to the Saudi Arabia Pavilion, where the Kingdom’s Expo 2030 Vision was unveiled by Pavilion Executive Mr Mohammadi Alshengiti.
“We have come up with a plan for Expo 2030, and we want to create a legacy for the expo, and already we have a comprehensive plan,” Mr Alshengiti said.
The Vice President later toured the Japanese Pavilion, where advanced technologies in recycling, biogas production, and water management were showcased.
Following the tour, Cde Mohadi emphasised the importance of technology in Zimbabwe’s national development strategy and called for deeper collaboration with Japan in science and innovation.
“What we have here in Japan is an expression of high dependency on technology for most of its operations, and for us, this is an opportunity to learn from our friends and take advantage of long, dependable relations to access this technology for the good of our nation. We can indeed learn from others, and Japan is the place for Zimbabwe, and going forward, we will vigorously pursue this to the best of our abilities,” he noted.
Vice President Mohadi described his visit as a ‘game changer,’ noting that the experience opened his eyes to the many ways in which Zimbabwe can benefit from focused technology transfer, especially in critical sectors such as energy, agriculture, and waste management.
