ZIMBABWE A begin their tour of Bangladesh on Monday with the first of three unofficial One-Day Internationals at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura, as players seek to stake a claim for places in the national team ahead of a busy international schedule.

The tour serves as a key preparatory assignment ahead of Zimbabwe’s white-ball series later this month and offers selectors an opportunity to assess both established internationals and emerging talent under subcontinental conditions.

Zimbabwe Cricket has assembled a squad that combines experience with youth, using the tour as a platform to evaluate players ahead of Bangladesh’s visit to Zimbabwe next month for a full international series comprising a one-off Test, three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.

The unofficial ODI series begins at Shaheed Chandu Stadium, with the opening two matches scheduled for Monday and Wednesday in Bogura before the final fixture is played at Rajshahi Divisional Stadium on Saturday.

Among the senior players included in the 50-over squad are Ryan Burl, Innocent Kaia, Wessly Madhevere, Vincent Masekesa and Tadiwanashe Marumani.

They are joined by Matthew Campbell, Antum Naqvi, Ernest Masuku, Michael Frost and Tarisai Musakanda in a squad that features several players pushing for higher honours.

Following the completion of the ODI series, attention will shift to red-ball cricket, with two four-day matches scheduled at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The first match will run from June 17 to 20, while the second is set for June 24 to 27.

Zimbabwe A will make several personnel changes for the longer format, with Innocent Kaia, Roy Kaia, Marumani and Madhevere featuring only in the ODI series.

They will be replaced by Tanunurwa Makoni, Dion Myers, Munashe Chimusoro and Johnathan Campbell for the four-day fixtures.

With Bangladesh due in Zimbabwe next month, the tour provides a valuable opportunity for players to adapt to local conditions, gain match practice and strengthen their cases for inclusion in the senior national side.
