HARDROCK FC returned to the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table following a commanding 3-nil victory over Simba Bhora at Chahwanda Stadium this Sunday.
A vibrant atmosphere engulfed Chahwanda Stadium as Hardrock were back at their hunting ground.
This was complemented by a strong security presence ensuring a smooth match-day experience.
Hardrock rose to the occasion in style, with Warriors forward Washington Navaya grabbing a first-half brace to put the hosts firmly in control.
Samuel Makawa then added the finishing touch in the 70th minute to seal a memorable victory for the league newcomers.
Despite the contrasting fortunes, both coaches found positives in their teams’ performances.
“We are disappointed with the result, but we will soldier on. The performance was quite promising, though there were mistakes,” Simba Bhora Coach Mandla Mpofu said.
“It is an important result; we had a lot of pressure; we hadn’t won in the last 2 matches, we are coming from the lower league, scoring 3 and a clean sheet means a lot,” Hardrock Coach Kelvin Kaindu said.
The victory propels Hardrock FC to the summit of the league table on superior goal difference, adding another exciting twist to an increasingly competitive title race.
Elsewhere, CAPS United edged ZPC Kariba 3-2, Manica Diamonds and Dynamos shared the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Sakubva Stadium, while FC Platinum secured a 1-0 victory over Triangle at Gibbo Stadium.
