Story by Mhlomuli Ncube
BULAWAYO residents have been urged to continue supporting the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, which is currently before parliament, with the proposed legislation being described as a key instrument for consolidating gains made under the Second Republic and accelerating the country’s development agenda.
Addressing party supporters during an interface with the ZANU PF Women’s League held at Stanley Hall in Bulawayo this Sunday, ZANU PF Central Committee member, Professor Mthuli Ncube, commended residents for their continued support of Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill, saying the proposed legislation is aligned with efforts by the Second Republic to strengthen governance systems and create an enabling environment for sustainable development.
He noted that the overwhelming support being shown by communities reflects growing confidence in the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the country’s Vision 2030.
“We are grateful for the support that the people of Bulawayo have continued to show towards the development agenda of the second republic. As CAB 3 goes through parliament, our people must understand its benefits and continue supporting reforms that will strengthen our nation. We are also celebrating Zimbabwe’s election to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member. This is a major diplomatic achievement which reflects the confidence that the international community has in our country’s leadership and its commitment to peace, development and multilateral cooperation,” he said.
In a gesture aimed at strengthening community welfare initiatives, Professor Ncube donated towards community burial societies, saying such grassroots structures play a critical role in promoting social solidarity and supporting vulnerable families during difficult times.
“We are grateful for this assistance. Burial societies play an important role in our communities, and this support will benefit many families,” a resident said.
“This donation demonstrates that Government leaders remain connected to the needs of ordinary people. We appreciate this intervention,” a beneficiary said.
“We thank Professor Ncube for remembering community welfare initiatives. Such support strengthens unity among residents,” a community member said.
“The assistance comes at the right time and will help ease the burden on many households during difficult moments,” a citizen said.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the ruling ZANU PF party to strengthen community participation in national development programmes as Zimbabwe advances towards attaining an upper-middle-income society status by 2030.
