Mauritius’ Vice President Honourable Marie Boissezon has paid a courtesy call on Zimbabwe’s Vice President, General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga on the sidelines of the India-Africa Business Conference underway in New Delhi, India.

Speaking soon after the meeting, Honourable Boissezon emphasised the need for self-sufficiency in various sectors, including food production, highlighting that African countries should reduce their reliance on external aid and instead focus on developing their own capacities.

During the courtesy call, Vice President Boissezon and Vice President Chiwenga also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Mauritius and Zimbabwe, including increasing trade and investment cooperation.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

In a significant gesture of goodwill, Vice President Boissezon announced that Mauritius is offering 50 university scholarships to African students, including those from Zimbabwe.

The scholarships, which cover a range of fields, are part of Mauritius’ efforts to contribute to the development of human capital in Africa.

The India-Africa Business Conference, which is being attended by leaders from across Africa and India, provides a platform for nations to explore new opportunities for economic cooperation and development.

This afternoon, Zimbabwe will hold a dedicated session at the conclave, where the country will present its investment potential to a wider Indian audience.
