Passengers escape death after commuter omnibus crash in Harare

SEVERAL passengers sustained minor injuries after a commuter omnibus overturned at the corner of Jefferson and Arlington Roads in Hatfield on Friday morning.

The commuter omnibus, carrying 18 passengers, was travelling from Seke L in Chitungwiza to Harare’s Central Business District when it veered off the road and landed on its side.

According to some passengers, the vehicle appeared to have lost its brakes, prompting the driver to swerve in an attempt to avoid colliding with vehicles ahead.

The manoeuvre resulted in the commuter omnibus overturning.

A number of passengers sustained minor injuries, with some transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

There were no fatalities.
