Herentals celebrate double award success ahead of Scottland showdown

Story by Lawrence Trusida, Sports Editor

HERENTALS enjoyed a clean sweep of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League monthly awards for May after captain Ralph Kawondera was named Player of the Month, while coach Paul Benza claimed the Coach of the Month accolade.

The awards mark back-to-back monthly honours for Kawondera, who has been one of the league’s standout performers this season.

The versatile Herentals skipper has played a pivotal role in the Students’ impressive campaign and currently leads the Premier Soccer League scoring charts.

Benza’s recognition comes after guiding Herentals through an impressive month in which the club collected 12 points.

Although Highlanders amassed the same number of points during May, Herentals secured the award on the strength of a superior goal return.

The double honour provides further recognition of Herentals’ strong form as they prepare for a crucial top-of-the-table encounter against Scottland at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday.
