PREPARATIONS for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations have intensified after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) established a high-level oversight body to supervise tournament readiness across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe, government ministers and football federation presidents from the three host nations agreed to form the PAMOJA Oversight Committee during a high-level meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.

The committee has been tasked with providing strategic direction, coordination and oversight for preparations of the first jointly hosted TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in East Africa.

Among the major priorities identified are the acceleration of stadium and infrastructure development, confirmation of host venues, cross-border coordination on visas and immigration, as well as strengthening safety, security and medical preparedness.

CAF has set August next year as a key target for the completion of several critical milestones ahead of the continental football showcase.

The 2027 tournament will mark the first time the Africa Cup of Nations is jointly hosted by three East African nations.
