PSL: Highlanders chase another win as Simba Bhora visit Barbourfields

Story by Anashe Murombedzi

HIGHLANDERS will be aiming to continue their impressive resurgence when they host former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Simba Bhora at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

Bosso heads into the Matchday 21 encounter in buoyant mood after recovering from a slow start to the season that was marked by a series of draws.

Highlanders have emerged as one of the league’s form sides, recording six wins, three draws and just one defeat in their last 10 matches.

Simba Bhora, meanwhile, has struggled for consistency, managing only three victories from their last 10 league outings, while losing five and drawing two. The Shamva-based side sits ninth on 27 points, five behind Highlanders.

Despite their recent struggles, Simba Bhora holds the historical advantage. They have won three and drawn three of the last seven meetings between the sides, with the Highlanders’ only victory coming before the teams played out a goalless draw earlier this season.

Matchday 21 begins on Saturday with Bulawayo Chiefs hosting MWOS at Luveve Stadium, TelOne entertaining FC Platinum at Ascot Stadium, FC Hunters taking on defending champions Scottland at Rufaro Stadium, and Ngezi Platinum Stars facing Chicken Inn at Baobab Stadium.

On Sunday, Hardrock host CAPS United at Chahwanda Stadium, Manica Diamonds welcome ZPC Kariba to Sakubva Stadium, Triangle United take on Herentals at Gibbo Stadium, while Dynamos conclude the weekend programme against Agama at Rufaro Stadium.
