VETERAN goalkeeper Washington Arubi has completed a sensational return to the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after signing for Harare giants CAPS United.
The 40-year-old joins Makepekepe after leaving South African side Marumo Gallants at the end of last season.
Arubi is set to become one of a select group of players to have represented Zimbabwe’s traditional “Big Three” clubs, Highlanders, Dynamos and CAPS United, once he makes his competitive debut for the Green Machine.
The experienced shot-stopper returns home after more than a decade in South African football, where he featured for Stellenbosch, SuperSport United, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Marumo Gallants, among other clubs.
CAPS United have signed Arubi as a replacement for Wallace Magalane, who was released following an error-prone campaign.
His arrival comes at a pivotal stage of the season as Makepekepe strengthen their squad for the second half of the campaign, with the veteran goalkeeper expected to add leadership, composure and top-flight experience between the posts.
