42 Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) officers graduated this Friday after completing the Potential Officers’ Course and the Basic Officers’ course at Josiah Tungamirai Air Force Base in Gweru.
AFZ Commander Air Marshal Jacob Nzvede implored the officers to be disciplined and loyal adding that they should use the knowledge gained during training programme as a guide in the discharge of their duties.
He said, “A sound appreciation of the history of Zimbabwe and contemporary issues is critical. Hence, I urge you to use the knowledge you gained to guide you in the loyal and patriotic discharge of your duties.”
Air Marshal Nzvede also commissioned a new simulator at the institution saying the Air Force of Zimbabwe will continue to explore training programmes that resonate with the Education 5.0 model.
“As you may be aware, regarding education, the government is implementing Education 5.0 which emphasises heritage-based learning that is supported by five pillars which are; research, teaching, community service, innovation and industrialisation. The Air Force of Zimbabwe training has been rightly guided by the policy. This is being implemented at our major schools,” he said.
The 42 graduates went through an 18-week training programme, which was physically and mentally demanding, preparing them to become part of an effective air force.
