LEADERS from across Southern Africa are gathering in Victoria Falls, for the 2025 Migration Dialogue for Southern Africa (MIDSA).

Ministers and senior officials from all 16 SADC Member States, together with representatives from IOM, UNICEF, and civil society, are meeting under the theme “Promoting Regional Integration Through Sustaining Safe, Regular, and Orderly Migration in the Southern African Region.”

Hosted by the Government of Zimbabwe at the four-day forum will tackle key migration challenges, including climate-induced mobility, protection of children and youth on the move, alternatives to detention, labour mobility, and data-driven migration policies.

Technical sessions from 24–26 October will develop evidence-based recommendations, while the Ministerial Session on 27 October will see Ministers endorse a Joint Communiqué re-affirming commitments to the Global Compact for Migration.

Marking 25 years of MIDSA, this year’s dialogue aims to chart a regional roadmap ahead of the 2026 International Migration Review Forum, reinforcing Southern Africa’s united commitment to make migration safe, orderly, and beneficial for all.
