FC Platinum add firepower ahead of TelOne showdown

FC PLATINUM have reinforced their squad with four new signings ahead of the second half of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, with the new-look side set to begin its campaign against TelOne in a Midlands derby at Ascot Stadium on Saturday.

The former league champions have recruited Namibian striker Isaskar Gurirab from Scottland, winger Mcebisi Moyo from SUA Flamingoes, Namibian defender Vitapi Ngaruka from African Stars and Tanzanian midfielder Baraka Majogoro from Chippa United following the departures of Nickson Nyasulu and Precious Phiri.

Coach Joel Luphahla believes the additions will strengthen the squad as FC Platinum seek an improved finish to the season.

“As you can see, we have added four new players and two of our senior players have extended their stay here by two more years, which is a bonus for us. We are hopeful these players will make an immediate impact as we are looking for a strong second-half finish. We are going to start with the TelOne game over the weekend,” he said.

New signing Isaskar Gurirab said he is eager to make an immediate contribution.

“I’m not new to this league. I have been with Simba Bhora and Scottland, and now FC Platinum. My goal is to make an immediate impact. We have a lot of talented players in this squad,” he said.

FC Platinum, who last lifted major silverware when they completed the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League and Castle Challenge Cup double in 2022, finished the first half of the campaign in 10th place with 26 points from 20 matches.
