Dynamos banking on Cioaba effect in crucial Agama encounter

DYNAMOS begin a new chapter under Technical Director Aristica Cioaba when they host Agama in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 21 fixture at Rufaro Stadium this Sunday.

The Romanian has assumed responsibility for Dynamos’ technical department following the departure of Genesis Mangombe and says his immediate focus is to build confidence within the squad while implementing his football philosophy.

“I have been working for one week now, and I want to improve the players and give them confidence in my philosophy. I have spoken to the players. First, they must understand me, and I must very quickly understand them. I now know the players’ names and positions, and we will work on progress every day. Maybe in a short time, you will see a different team — a team that plays better. That is my long-term vision,” Cioaba said.

Dynamos head into the encounter seventh on the table with 32 points, while Agama remain bottom of the standings on 16 points.

Matchday 21 action gets underway on Saturday with Bulawayo Chiefs hosting MWOS at Luveve Stadium, TelOne entertaining FC Platinum at Ascot Stadium, FC Hunters taking on defending champions Scottland at Rufaro Stadium, and Ngezi Platinum Stars facing Chicken Inn at Baobab Stadium.

Sunday’s programme also features Highlanders against Simba Bhora at Barbourfields Stadium, Hardrock hosting CAPS United at Chahwanda Stadium, Manica Diamonds welcoming ZPC Kariba at Sakubva Stadium, and Triangle United facing Herentals at Gibbo Stadium.

Meanwhile, Scottland dominated the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League June monthly awards, with Knowledge Musona named Player of the Month and Norman Mapeza voted Coach of the Month.
