HARARE-THE much-anticipated Premier Soccer League (PSL) and Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) elections are scheduled for July 25, following the official release of the electoral roadmap by the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA).

The process, which marks a crucial step in the restructuring of Zimbabwe’s football leadership, will see the election of key administrative figures for both the men’s and women’s top-flight leagues.

For the PSL, positions up for contestation include: chairperson; two deputy chairpersons and three emergency committee members

In the WPSL, elections will be held for: chairperson; vice chairperson and five committee members.

ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi underscored the importance of the elections in revitalising the domestic football landscape.

“The PSL and WPSL elections represent an important milestone in the renewal of our football structures. As ZIFA, we are fully committed to delivering a credible, transparent, and inclusive process that strengthens the foundations of the game in Zimbabwe,” he said.

The PSL Chairperson’s seat became vacant after Farai Jere stepped down in December 2024 to contest a position on the ZIFA Board, a tenure which has since expired.

Meanwhile, the WPSL has been under the stewardship of interim Chairperson Theresa Maguraushe since the league’s reconstitution last year.

As the build-up to the polls begins, the football fraternity is hopeful that the elections will usher in a new era of competent leadership and progressive development in the sport.
