ZANU-PF’s Mashonaland Central Provincial Chapter has intensified mobilisation and engagement efforts across the province in support of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 ahead of its expected tabling before Parliament.
The ruling party convened inter-district meetings in all eight political districts to brief party structures on developments surrounding the proposed amendment and consolidate support following recent nationwide public hearings.
Party leaders said the outreach programme was also aimed at appreciating communities and supporters who participated in the consultation process and endorsed the proposed constitutional changes.
Speaking during an engagement meeting in Guruve, ZANU-PF Central Committee Member, Cde Paul Dzawanda, commended residents for supporting the Bill.
“Here in Guruve, we came to thank the leadership, the people of the area, for doing a good job by supporting CAB 3. They took their time and expressed their free will and supported that our President Mnangagawa should continue in office until 2030. We are seeing development, work is being done, roads and dams being built.”
ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central Deputy Provincial Chairperson, Honourable Christopher Magomo, said the party remained confident about the proposed amendment following what he described as overwhelming support during public hearings.
“We came to Guruve to strengthen the people, that CAB 3 is not going to go back. When the parliamentarians went around the province, there was overwhelming support for the bill. We thank all the eight districts of Mashonaland Central province, what the people are doing is not of the President alone, it is for everyone.”
Ruling party supporters reiterated that the amendment process is being driven by the aspirations of the people and not individuals.
“We are supporting CAB 3, and we are for development; the President should be allowed to complete the projects he started,” a party member said.
“In the remaining years that we have, we should have development in our area and grow to become an upper-middle-income society,” another ZANU PF member added.
Following the conclusion of public hearings and submissions on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, attention now shifts to Parliament where the proposed legislation is expected to be formally presented for debate.
