THE much-anticipated Rugby Africa U20 Barthes Trophy will kick off in Harare this Saturday, with Zimbabwe’s under-20 men’s rugby team, the Young Sables hoping to reclaim their title.
The tournament promises to be an exciting clash of young rugby talents from across Africa.
The reigning champions, Kenya, will be favourites to retain their title after a commanding 28-13 victory over Zimbabwe in Harare last year.
However, the Young Sables will be determined to make a strong comeback on home ground and win back their title after losing it to Kenya last year.
The tournament schedule is packed with thrilling matches as the opening game will feature Kenya against Tunisia, followed by the hosts, Zimbabwe taking on Namibia.
Match-day two will see Kenya facing Namibia, while Zimbabwe clash with Tunisia on Wednesday next week.
The final day of action will feature Namibia and Tunisia and a clash between Zimbabwe and Kenya on the 27th.
Zimbabwe’s bid to host the nine-day tournament was successful, following Kenya’s hosting in 2022 and 2023, and Zimbabwe’s hosting last year.
