GOVERNMENT says the private sector should take a leading role in transforming Zimbabwe into a tourism destination of choice.
Speaking after a tour of Gohori Resort in Mutoko, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Honourable Zhemu Soda said the private sector must take a leading role in making Zimbabwe a tourist destination of choice in line with the National Development Strategy Two (NDS2).
“A lot of people are now travelling from Africa to tour Gohori Resort. It is a well-designed environment. This is a feeder into the realisation and aspirations of NDS2, where the President is encouraging the private sector to lead in ensuring the vision is realised, and this is what we are seeking. We are not leaving anyone behind, and Mutoko has not been left behind in tourism,” he said.
Dr Soda further highlighted how a vibrant tourism sector leads to employment opportunities for the citizenry.
“Some livelihoods are now being empowered, and the facility is also now growing the GDP for Mutoko as a district and also for this province. I want to commend what I have seen here.”
Zimbabwe was named the 2025 world’s best country to visit by Forbes magazine, a renowned global publication, as the country continues to increase its appeal as a premium international tourism destination.
