VICE President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga has been honoured with the Chaminuka Leadership Excellence Award from Legacy TV in recognition of his illustrious service to the nation.
The Vice President becomes the second recipient of the leadership excellence awards after President Emmerson Mnangagwa received the Munhumutapa Legacy Award from Legacy TV in December last year
Presenting the award to the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Professor Amon Murwira on behalf of the Vice President, Legacy TV representative Pardon Mangwende said the award is in recognition of his support and service to the country.
“This legacy TV is a registered company formed by the children of war veterans to safeguard the legacy of the liberation struggle with our government and our partisan faith. So every year since 2021, we have what we call a legacy award. It is meant to reward those who work extra hard in safeguarding the legacy of Zimbabwe and ZANU-PF.
“Of those awards, we have the highest award that we give to His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa called a Munhumutapa Legacy Award. The second is for Chaminuka Leadership Excellence Award which was awarded to Vice President Dr Chiwenga. We believe that he played a big role from the time he served as Vice President and his role in protecting the legacy.”
Receiving the award on behalf of the Vice President, Professor Murwira lauded the recognition.
“Our purpose is to continue with the liberation philosophy and develop this country so that we safeguard the same. Our purpose is loyalty to the soil. Our purpose is for the continuity of this country,” he said.
“You have given the second award to Vice President Chiwenga for the work that he has been doing to safeguard the legacy of this country and to make sure that he supports President Mnangagwa in making sure that we conform to the dictates of the liberation struggle, its aims, its goals, for the liberation of this country. So on behalf of the Honourable Vice President, I am humbled to receive this award.”
Vice President General Chiwenga was also presented with an Outstanding Champion in Food Security and Development in Agriculture Trophy.
