MUSIC and unity took centre stage in Maphisa as thousands gathered for an all-night Uhuru Gala marking Zimbabwe’s 46th Independence celebrations.

The event, held at Minda High School, brought together revellers from across the country, capping a day of commemorations at Maphisa Stadium.

Organised by the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, the gala was designed to foster social cohesion while celebrating national identity through music.

Artists delivered high-energy performances in a night characterised by pomp and fanfare, with the event drawing one of the largest crowds seen in the province.

The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Soda Zhemu said the decentralisation of Independence celebrations is transforming communities and promoting inclusivity.

“We want to thank our President for the decision to decentralise Independence celebrations because it has transformed communities. We are here tonight to celebrate independence through music and this brings unity among our people,” he said.

The Uhuru Gala formed part of wider national celebrations, blending culture and entertainment while reinforcing a shared sense of identity and unity among Zimbabweans.
