CHIVHU – JUST one week after relocating to the United Arab Emirates, 25-year-old Shepherd Mudoveri tragically lost his life while attempting to escape a fire that engulfed a residential tower in Al Nahda, Sharjah. His remains were repatriated and laid to rest in Chivhu this Sunday amid an outpouring of grief from family and friends.

Mudoveri, who had moved to Dubai after being invited by friends, died in April after falling from the 42nd floor of the high-rise building.

He had reportedly attempted to escape the flames using ropes, but tragically slipped and fell to his death.

“Shepherd was a brilliant young man, he had a promising future because he came out with flying colours. He decided to go to Dubai after he was invited by his friends.

“A week after he settled in Dubai, a devastating fire broke out in the flat he was staying in. While trying to escape the inferno through ropes hanging on the building, he then slipped and fell off the tower from the 42nd floor. We are devastated as a family,” family spokesperson, Mr Taurai Mudoveri narrated.

Mudoveri was among the five people who tragically lost their lives in the fire accident.
