ZVISHAVANE – MORE than 100 professional and amateur golfers from across the country converged at the Rolland Park Golf Club in Zvishavane this Saturday for the third edition of the annual Nancy Dube Golf Tournament.
The tournament gave golfers a platform to show off their talents, skills, and unifying the golf fraternity.
Proceeds from late former President of the Zimbabwe Ladies’ Golf Union tournament were channelled to the less privileged.
“I am thrilled that this edition had professional golfers, which was a bonus for us because we learnt something from them. If we continue to do this yearly, I am sure we become a golfing nation,” a golfer said.
Organiser of the tournament, Mr Obert Dube praised the local community and stakeholders for coming on board and playing a key role towards the development of sport.
“The tournament seeks to promote sportsmanship, talent, and tourism within Zimbabwe by offering amateur golfers the chance to compete with professionals. I want to applaud the community and stakeholders who took part in this year’s edition because it gave our players and club members an opportunity to interact, share ideas and exchange notes towards the promotion of the sport.”
The event, however, is also aimed at reviving ladies’ golf, which has been lagging behind in recent years.
