ZANU PF President and First Secretary, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged the party’s Women’s League to spearhead empowerment projects that improve livelihoods and ensure development reaches communities across the country.
Speaking at the ZANU PF Women’s League National Assembly in Harare on Wednesday, attended by more than 600 delegates, President Mnangagwa said empowerment initiatives should extend to every district and village as part of the country’s development agenda.
He urged the Women’s League to take a leading role in implementing transformative projects that improve the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans.
The President also said the government is scaling up the acquisition of health equipment to strengthen healthcare delivery, with particular focus on improving cancer treatment services.
Ahead of the 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference scheduled for Chinhoyi in October, President Mnangagwa called on the Women’s League to formulate practical resolutions that address the needs and aspirations of women.
He also challenged women to intensify the fight against drugs and substance abuse, describing the campaign as essential to safeguarding future generations.
The President noted that government continues to implement empowerment programmes, including road and dam construction as well as the rollout of Village Business Units, and urged women to embrace and drive these initiatives as part of Zimbabwe’s broader development agenda.
