The VVIP Pavilion at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (RGMIA) was completed on time ahead of the country’s hosting of the 44th SADC Summit.
The multi-million dollar Airport facility designed for very important foreign guests was completed according to schedule ahead of the 44th SADC Summit which gets underway this week.
Airports Company of Zimbabwe chief executive officer, Mr Tawanda Gusha told ZBC News that the pavilion provides added ambience as part of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport expansion project.
“We are excited to inform the nation that this exceptional project was completed according to plan and all the Heads of State will use the terminal. It was originally part of the RGMIA expansion but we got a major impetus to accelerate its completion for the SADC Summit,” he said.
Meanwhile, just a fortnight after successfully hosting the SADC Industrialisation Week, Rainbow Tourism Group chief executive officer, Mr Tendai Madziwanyika said the Rainbow Towers Hotel which got an extensive facelift is bracing for the main event this week.
“Our rooms were renovated to world-class standards for a 5-star hotel and the conference center equally got a facelift which hosted the SADC Industrialization Week. All is now set to host key events of the main summit this coming week,” he said.
The hosting of the regional diplomatic meeting has been a boon not only for the country’s continental standing but also created a lifeline for the private sector by creating business opportunities.
