HARARE – NAMIBIA’S President, Her Excellency Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, arrived in Zimbabwe this Monday on the fifth leg of her regional familiarisation tour, marking a significant moment in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two Southern African nations.
Her visit comes just weeks after she made history by becoming Namibia’s fifth and first female President, following her inauguration on March 21.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah was warmly received upon arrival in Harare, where she is expected to engage in high-level bilateral discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as trade, energy, agriculture, education, and regional integration.
The visit is part of her ongoing diplomatic tour of Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states, as she familiarises herself with regional counterparts and reiterates Namibia’s commitment to collaborative governance in the region.
Observers view the Namibian President’s visit as a reaffirmation of the long-standing historical and fraternal relations between Zimbabwe and Namibia, which share deep liberation war ties and strong multilateral cooperation.
As the two sister republics chart a course forward under new and renewed leadership, this visit is anticipated to foster greater unity, economic growth, and continental development in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
