President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been impressed by significant strides made in the mining sector through innovative technologies being showcased at the 27th edition of the mining, engineering and transport expo (Mine Entra) in Bulawayo.
During his tour of exhibition stands at the Mine Entra in Bulawayo this Thursday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa expressed his admiration for the advancements in mining equipment, machinery and processes.
“Every year we visit the exhibitions, and each year gives us a lot of surprises, and the surprise is positive because technology continues to improve, Nyika inovakwa never mayo. You cannot repeat what you did last time. There is a need to embrace new technologies to show that you are growing in what you are doing, and this shows that our people have embraced our philosophy of Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo,” he said.
Exhibitors displayed innovative equipment, machinery and software solutions designed to enhance efficiency and productivity in mining operations.
The President also emphasised the importance of embracing technology for the youth, urging them to play a pivotal role in driving the country’s economic growth.
“Young people you must embrace this not to admire what has been built by others in their nations, admire your innovations as we build our economy brick by brick,” he added.
The Second Republic has been steadfast in embracing emerging technologies as the foundation of economic development.
This comes at a time when the country is inching closer to attaining an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
President Mnangagwa also presented awards to the best exhibitors in various categories.
Shepco Industrial Suppliers won the Best Value Addition award under the Manufacturing Sector, while Fuel Tech dominated the services category.
Value Engineering was the best exhibitor for the suppliers’ category, with the best Foreign exhibit award going to Fire Dust Control Africa.
