The Zimbabwean Warriors staged a resilient comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Benin in their Group C World Cup Qualifier in Durban, South Africa, this Thursday evening.
Despite a shaky start that saw the Warriors concede two early goals, captain Marshall Munetsi and former skipper Knowledge Musona led the charge, with Munetsi scoring just before halftime and Musona equalising just before the hour mark.
However, the Warriors were unable to find a winner, despite dominating possession in the second half.
The draw sees Zimbabwe collect three points from five matches in the World Cup qualification campaign, while Benin now has eight points from the same number of games.
Prior to the match, President Emmerson Mnangagwa had pledged a US$150,000 winning bonus for the Warriors for their games against Benin and Nigeria on Tuesday.
