MASVINGO Province has welcomed the decision by President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa to grant the province the opportunity to host the 2027 National Independence Celebrations, with preparations now set to begin.
The ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial leadership made the remarks during a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held on Friday, where members applauded Government’s decentralisation of national events as a strategy to promote inclusive development and economic growth across the country.
“We met as a province following the honour bestowed on Masvingo by President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa and government and the party leadership to host the 2027 Independence celebrations. We have started preparing to host the big day, and we are now discussing possible venues for the event. We also took time to appreciate the unity and support shown by party members on Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3, and we will continue supporting the bill until the completion of the process of its adoption,” ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial Chairperson Senator Robson Mavhenyengwa said.
Other party leaders spoke about developments taking place across the province meant to empower communities, calling upon members to participate in unity.
“We want to thank President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa for the Munhumutapa Housing Scheme, which is set to benefit youths from all the country’s ten provinces. Here in Masvingo Province, we visited the project site and witnessed the progress being made by developers, which is now at about 75 percent in terms of servicing the stands. The President has said no place and no person should be left behind, and we appreciate his empowerment programmes for the youths,” ZANU PF National Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde John Paradza said.
“We are happy with the unity we continue to witness in our communities. Let us continue working together, mobilising more people to join our party. Everyone is a commissar and let’s encourage our people to be part of development programmes in their communities,” ZANU PF Politburo Member Cde Paul Mangwana said.
The province is expected to begin preparations for the 2027 Uhuru celebrations, which are anticipated to bring infrastructural development, investment opportunities and increased economic activity to Masvingo and surrounding areas.
