MASHONALAND EAST Province has expressed confidence that the adoption of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 will significantly advance Zimbabwe’s National Development Agenda towards Vision 2030.

At a ZANU-PF inter-district solidarity meeting on the amendment held in Seke District on Thursday, party members and residents reflected on the strong support the Bill received during recent public hearings.

The local leadership says the massive development in their district is the rallying point for supporting CAB3.

“In the last two weeks, there was a huge bridge that was officially opened in our area. There are road rehabilitation projects taking place in our district, and these are the reasons why we need a term extension for President Dr Mnangagwa,” Seke Legislator Honourable Munyaradzi Kashambe said.

“We are happy that the people here freely supported the amendment number 3 during the public hearings. All the people were given the opportunity to contribute. We are happy that there was an overwhelming support to amended bill number 3. We are in full support of the bill,” Women’s Quota Legislator Honourable Tabeth Murwira said.

Mashonaland East Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Itayi Ndudzo is confident the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill will sail through parliament.

“Here in Mashonaland East, we have 36 legislators, including senators. They are all supporting bill number 3 in totality. All the legislators are in full support. Bill number three is a delayed match as it has already succeeded,” he said.

Mashonaland East ZANU PF Provincial Chairperson Cde Daniel Garwe praised the people of Seke for overwhelmingly supporting CAB3 during the public hearings.

“We thank the people of Seke for overwhelmingly supporting the constitutional amendment number 3 bill, and you should remain to offer full support to the constitutional reforms. There are only 12 days left for the public consultations to be concluded. We should continue supporting the amendment bill. We are almost over the crossing line. This is the time to support CAB3. We should support the fourth revolution, which focuses on economic emancipation. To achieve that, we need to support CAB3. There are programmes here in Seke for youths that are being spearheaded by President Mnangagwa. There is the Dunottar housing project, which is seeks to provide stands for the youths. The project will also provide an opportunity for the locals to buy affordable stands. This is what we are talking about when we refer to Vision 2030,” he said.

Written submissions on the Constitutional Amendment Number 3 Bill are still being accepted by Parliament through email, and after May 18, the bill is expected to be tabled in the august house for debate.
