THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched a manhunt for a Harare man wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of his younger brother, while also warning licensed firearm holders against the negligent handling and misuse of guns.
Police are appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of Emmanuel Makazi (30), who is being sought over the murder of his brother, Munashe Makazi (22).
The incident occurred at around on July 20 at the family’s residence in Sunningdale 2, Harare.
According to police, Emmanuel allegedly stabbed his brother once in the chest with a sharp object following a dispute over a missing US$50 before fleeing the scene.
“The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Emmanuel Makazi (30), who is being sought in connection with the murder of his younger brother, Munashe Makazi (22),” police said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the police have reiterated that licensed firearms must only be handled in accordance with the law following the arrest of Evans Peter Marozva (49).
Marozva allegedly discharged a licensed pistol during a dispute at a shop in Stonebridge, Harare, on July 19.
Police said the bullet ricocheted off the floor before striking a 31-year-old man on the leg.
The firearm has since been confiscated and Marozva is facing criminal charges.
“The ZRP warns firearm holders against the negligent and irresponsible handling of firearms. Firearms should not be brandished, discharged to intimidate others, or used to settle disputes,” the police said.
