ZIMBABWEAN cultural music icon Jeys Marabini says his recent tour of South Africa has opened new international opportunities as he builds momentum towards his upcoming European tour scheduled for July.
Marabini described the South African trip as a major breakthrough in taking Zimbabwean music beyond borders, noting the warm reception he received across various media platforms.
“I am very excited about my trip to South Africa. I had a good opportunity to be on radio and television stations, and I was warmly received. I appreciate that they love and respect Zimbabwean music,” he said.
He featured on several platforms including Khaya FM, Thobela FM, Africa Channel and One Africa TV, experiences he said broadened his exposure and learning curve.
“Travelling is learning, so I will take those lessons back home and apply them,” he added.
Marabini is now preparing for a European tour set for July, with performances scheduled for Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
“I also spoke about my upcoming Europe tour and they are excited that Africa is being well represented in music. As a Zimbabwean artist, I am proud to showcase my country. They love Zimbabwean cultural music because it represents our identity,” he said.
He also revealed that he is working on a collaboration with fellow Zimbabwean artist Lewie Mhlanga, whom he met during his South Africa visit.
