INDIA has pledged to continue strengthening cooperation with Zimbabwe, particularly in the education sector, through the training of local students under the Presidential Scholarship programmes.

The embassy of India in Zimbabwe celebrated its 75th Republic Day in Harare this Friday, with Indian Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Vijay Khanduja pledging his country’s commitment to deepening cooperation in the education sector.

Ambassador Khanduja also highlighted the importance of peace across the globe.

“India continues to offer training programs to the Zimbabwean people. We are advancing in many sectors of the economy including technology and education. In recent times, many conflicts have emerged around the world and several parts of it have been suffering from violence. When each of two conflicting sides believes that it is right and the other wrong, the way out should be found in the light of reason,” he said.

The Indian community in Zimbabwe expressed its gratitude for their peaceful stay in the country.

“We are very happy that we are living peacefully here in Zimbabwe, and we would like the two governments to maintain the existing relationship which is conducive for doing business,” said one of the Indians based in Zimbabwe.

Another added, “Zimbabwe is very peaceful and exciting, I have visited many African countries, but Zimbabwe is just good.”

The commemoration of the 75th Republic Day of India is a historic milestone in the journey of the Asian country as it celebrates its unique greatness and cultural diversity.
