REIGNING Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua has been mesmerised by the breathtaking beauty of Zimbabwe, especially the iconic Victoria Falls.
After winning the coveted Miss Universe crown, Sheynnis embarked on a world tour to showcase her platform and inspire others.
It is, however, her visit to Zimbabwe that has left a lasting impression. The majestic Victoria Falls, with its thundering cascade and mist-filled gorge, was a sight she will never forget.
“Hello Zimbabwe, hello universe. I’m Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Universe 2023, I’m so happy to be here in Victoria Falls,” she said.
Organisers of the event are confident the visit by Miss Universe is an endorsement of Destination Zimbabwe.
“So many bad things have been said about Zimbabwe at large by people who fight us as a country, that don’t love us as a country. Miss Universe coming to Zimbabwe is going to show that Zimbabwe is a free country, we are very liberal people, very loving people. This is going to show the world that Zimbabwe is a free country for all, anyone can come and visit and be free in Zimbabwe,” said Miss Universe Zimbabwe board member, Ms Zodwa Mnkandla.
“Miss Universe World is a big brand, for example, if you look at their followership, they have 6 million followers and if you look at the related page it has 14 million followers. Her visit here means there are 14 million people all over the world watching where Miss Universe is. This is good for marketing Zimbabwe, this is good for the brand Zimbabwe,” said Miss Universe Zimbabwe board chairperson, Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi Chiwenga.
Zimbabwe has been host to a number of top officials and celebrities in the recent past as part of strides to market the country’s tourism offerings, among them, Aston Villa Captain John McGinn and American chef, television personality and former model, Carla Hall.
