President Emmerson Mnangagwa has embraced former opposition party members who have retraced their footsteps to the ruling ZANU PF party.
The returnees, led by former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) National Executive Committee Member, Dzikamai Mavhaire met President Mnangagwa at State House in Harare this Wednesday.
Former cabinet minister, Mavhaire, was expelled from the ruling party in 2013 before joining CCC.
He was accompanied by his son Lawrence Mavhaire and former CCC legislator for Gutu Central, Oliver Chirume.
“I have come to join the party owing to its positive development trajectory that is inclusive of everyone,” said Chirume.
The ZANU PF Masvingo province leadership welcomed the members.
“ZANU PF is for everyone and we welcome the seasoned politician Dzikamai Mavhaire and others whom he has come with,” noted ZANU PF Politburo Member, Cde Lovemore Matuke.
ZANU PF Masvingo provincial chairperson, Cde Robson Mavhenyengwa weighed in, “We salute the development trajectory of the party that has managed to bring back these Cdes into the fold.”
A number of former opposition members have joined the ruling party in recent years citing confusion in opposition politics and the lure of a positive developmental trajectory spearheaded by the ZANU PF-led government.
