FORMER Premier Soccer League champions, Chicken Inn are targeting to collect their first set of maximum points when they tackle a tricky Herentals side at Luveve on Saturday.
The Gamecocks are winless after four rounds of matches and find themselves in unfamiliar territory, at the tail end of the log standings.
Chicken Inn have drawn thrice and lost their last away encounter to ZPC Kariba.
While the target for maximum points is reasonable given they will be playing at home, Saturday’s opponents are a tricky customer for the Gamecocks.
“We are in a bad position on the log. We are playing good football but being former champions we need to be somewhere there. We have been psyching each other and we will bank on our home advantage because we desperately need the three points,” captain, Xolani Ndlovu said.
Unlike a bad carpenter who always blames his tools, Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas still believes they have a good squad capable of bringing results but lady luck has been elusive for the 2015 champions.
“It is tough out there. We need to come out of this slumber. It is not going to be easy but we trust we have a good squad made up of both seasoned and young players. Young players need to show us what they can offer while senior players should bring that experience,” Chicken Inn head coach, Joey Antipas said.
The Gamecocks are 16th on the log, with three points from four matches, while their opponents are on 10th position with five points, setting the stage for a potential thriller.
