MOTHER’S Day celebrations took a healthy turn in Bulawayo’s Luveve suburb this Sunday, with women getting an opportunity to undergo free medical checkups facilitated by the Brian Samuriwo Foundation.

The initiative brought much-needed healthcare to the doorstep of many community members, particularly the elderly, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Foundation’s consistent support.

“We thank Samuriwo for doing this for us. Even when it is not Mother’s Day or Christmas, he makes sure we get something, like scarce pills. Thanks to him buying pills for us, we feel good for months. He supports us elderly people a lot,” a beneficiary, Lucia Ngoma said.

“We are grateful for Samuriwo’s efforts, he is doing a wonderful job, a mother, Josephine Chirungira said.

“Samuriwo is doing a great job by assisting us elderly people. This is not the first time he has done this, he has a great heart. Often, we cannot afford to buy pills or even know our health status, like having high blood pressure. By hosting these programs regularly, we get to know about our health,” a beneficiary, Isabel Dube said.

“We are grateful for the help we are receiving here. It is convenient and saves us transport costs. Samuriwo’s efforts are truly appreciated,” a father, Jabulani Sebe said.

“Samuriwo is doing a noble job. I would have paid US$120 for this prescription, but what he is doing is invaluable. We appreciate his efforts and want to say thank you from the Luveve constituency,” a beneficiary Tapiwa Chibobo said.

Free health check-ups have become a permanent feature of the Brian Samuriwo Foundation.

“This whole concert is for celebrating mothers. Whatever profits we make from our pub and grill, we channel back into the community. Some people struggle to afford even US$1 for medication, but we can make a difference. I am happy with the medical personnel that I have here sometimes you have to help with your profession It is our collective responsibility to build and uplift our nation,” the Founder of the Brian Samuriwo Foundation, Brian Samuriwo said.

Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May as part of a broader recognition of women’s invaluable contribution to society.
