The ZANU PF Midlands provincial executive held a coordinating committee meeting this Sunday, with discussions focussing on mobilisation of resources for the preservation of the late Vice President Simon Muzenda’s Trust and the upcoming National People’s Conference.
Fundraising activities towards the late national hero’s Trust will be headlined by a golf tournament slated for Gweru later this month.
ZANU PF Midlands provincial chairperson, Cde Edson Chiherenge says the province is targeting raise at least US$12 000 in honour of the late luminary who died on 20th of September in 2003.
“We are saying this month of September is very symbolic as it is the month in which our former Vice President Cde Muzenda died. He was one of us and as such, we saw it prudent to do activities in honour of his sacrifice. We are expected to raise at least 12 thousand dollars and we will be setting up a committee to oversee the fundraising activities. I am delighted to announce that a golf tournament will be held later this month where we expect to raise funds from corporates among other activities,” he said.
The meeting was also appraised on the province’s state of preparedness to attend this year’s National People’s Conference with a committee having been set up to come up with provincial resolutions that will be presented at the annual indaba.
