CAPS United have made a strong early statement in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, emerging as the only side with a perfect record after the first two rounds of the season.
The Harare giants, widely known as the Green Machine, have opened their campaign with two consecutive victories, defeating newly promoted Agama FC 2-1 before edging out Herentals FC 1-0.
The results mark a promising start for the team following a difficult season in which they battled relegation. Their early form has placed them alone at the top of the 18-team standings with six points from two matches.
While the campaign remains in its early stages, the performance suggests renewed momentum for the Harare side, who are seeking to re-establish themselves among the league’s leading contenders.
The Zimbabwean top flight is, however, known for its unpredictability, and the sustainability of CAPS United’s early advantage will become clearer as the season progresses.
Behind the leaders, a group of clubs, Chicken Inn FC, Dynamos FC, Ngezi Platinum Stars, Hardrock FC and Simba Bhora FC are level on four points, two behind the leaders.
Further down the table, FC Platinum, Bulawayo Chiefs and ZPC Kariba each have three points, occupying seventh to ninth positions.
A quartet comprising Highlanders FC, Scottland FC, MWOS FC and FC Hunters have collected two points apiece.
TelOne FC and Herentals have one point each, while Agama, Manica Diamonds FC and Triangle United are yet to register a point this season.
With the league still in its opening phase, attention will now turn to whether CAPS United can sustain their momentum in the coming fixtures.
