THE opening of a new duty-free shop at Beitbridge Border Post this Saturday underscores growing investor confidence in Zimbabwe’s economy, as the modernised facility continues to attract business and enhance cross-border trade services.
The investment is expected to create employment opportunities for locals while improving convenience for travellers using one of the region’s busiest transit points.
Travellers have welcomed the development, citing improved services at the upgraded border post.
“As travellers, we really appreciate the opening of this duty-free shop because it will add to our convenience as we cross the border for our various activities,” said a trader.
Investors continue to show confidence in Zimbabwe’s economy, with Government reaffirming its commitment to providing a conducive environment for business growth.
“We are pleased to be part of Zimbabwe’s economic development. So far, we have created employment for local people while also contributing to the Vision 2030 agenda by providing quality services to travellers,” said Mr Max Rivetti, a shareholder in Baobab Duty Free Shop.
Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe, said the development adds value to the upgraded border facility.
“Zimbabwe remains open for business, and the opening of this shop at Beitbridge Border Post enhances our modernised port. Zimbabweans are benefiting through employment creation while the economy continues to grow,” he said.
The newly opened duty-free shop features a restaurant, beverages and a range of retail products, positioning Zimbabwe on a positive trajectory towards achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
