LOG leaders Hardrock will face one of their biggest tests of the season when they take on Harare giants Dynamos in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash at Chahwanda Stadium on Sunday.
The newly promoted side has emerged as one of the surprise packages of the campaign after rising from the second tier to the summit of Zimbabwean football in remarkable fashion.
Hardrock, coached by Zambian tactician Kelvin Kaindu, have turned Chahwanda Stadium into a fortress, with visiting teams struggling to contain their intensity and disciplined approach.
After 13 matches, the league leaders have recorded eight wins, three draws and only two defeats, while scoring 21 goals and conceding just seven.
Their impressive run has taken them to the top of the table on 27 points, level with CAPS United, who trail on goal difference.
Sunday’s encounter presents another major challenge for Hardrock as they come up against Zimbabwe’s most successful football club, Dynamos, who remain eager to revive their own campaign.
Victory for Hardrock would strengthen their grip at the top of the standings and further cement their growing credentials as genuine title contenders in their debut top-flight season.
Matchday 14 action begins on Saturday, with Herentals hosting Simba Bhora at Rufaro Stadium.
Agama will entertain ZPC Kariba at Wadzanai Stadium, while Ngezi Platinum Stars welcome Bulawayo Chiefs at Baobab Stadium.
In Bulawayo, Chicken Inn will clash with defending champions Scottland at Barbourfields Stadium.
Sunday’s fixtures will also see FC Hunters take on TelOne at Heart Stadium, while Manica Diamonds host Highlanders at Sakubva Stadium.
Triangle United FC are scheduled to face MWOS at Gibbo Stadium.
The round concludes on Africa Day, Monday, with a potentially explosive encounter between CAPS United and FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium.
