THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has mobilised strong public and private sector support through a fundraising golf tournament held in Bulawayo this Friday, aimed at constructing a high school in Umguza, Matabeleland North.
The initiative is part of efforts to complement government’s drive to expand access to quality education, with the proposed ZRP Umguza High School targeted for completion by 2027.
Stakeholders from across sectors participated in the event, contributing through donations and the purchase of auctioned items, resulting in pledges of more than 40 000 bags of cement and over 35 000 bricks towards the project.
Zimbabwe Republic Police Commissioner General, Stephen Mutamba said the project is an investment in the future of the country.
“Education, by its nature, is life-changing. By building a school in Umguza, we will be investing in the future of our children,” he said.
Private sector partners also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting national development through community-driven initiatives.
PPC Managing Director, Mr Rawana Ndima underscored the importance of education in transforming lives.
“Education is pivotal in transforming lives. Hence, it is important for us as private entities to come on board and support such programs,” he said.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has a track record of establishing schools across the country, many of which have earned a reputation for academic excellence and consistently high pass rates.
