ZIMBABWE’S senior women’s football team, the Mighty Warriors, booked their place in the final of the Four Nations Tournament after defeating Lesotho 3-1 in a semi-final clash at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia, on Saturday.
The Mighty Warriors produced a commanding display to overcome their regional rivals and advance to the title decider, where they will face hosts Zambia.
Captain Emmaculate Msipha led from the front with one of the goals, while Ethel Chinyerere and veteran striker Rutendo Makore also found the back of the net in an impressive team performance.
Zimbabwe’s victory capped a strong start to the tournament, with the side showing attacking intent and composure throughout the encounter.
The Mighty Warriors will now take on Zambia in Tuesday’s final after the hosts defeated Kenya 4-1 on penalties in the second semi-final.
The match between Zambia and Kenya had ended 1-1 after regulation time before the Copper Queens prevailed in the shootout to secure their place in the final.
Kenya and Lesotho will meet in the third-place play-off earlier on the same day.
The Four Nations Tournament forms part of Zimbabwe’s preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers, with the competition providing valuable international exposure and an opportunity for the technical team to assess the squad against quality opposition.
