ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Province has declared its support for the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill following public consultations held across the province.

Party supporters said they backed the proposed constitutional changes, including plans to extend the electoral cycle for Presidential, parliamentary and local authority elections.

Addressing party members, ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Chairperson Honourable Kazembe Kazembe praised supporters for what he described as a united stance during the consultation process.

“I want to thank Mashonaland Central for your resounding support for CAB3. You were united and there were no dissenting voices. We all spoke with one voice in support of CAB3,” he said.

“When we go about our business, we must not be apologetic. We are on the right path and we are doing what is constitutionally permissible.”

Supporters who attended the Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting said they would continue backing the amendment process until the bill is passed into law.

“As the youth, we supported CAB3. We would even want our President to continue in office for 10 years if we had a chance,” a youth supporter said.

Another supporter said consultations in areas including Muzarabani and Guruve had proceeded smoothly.

“I went around Muzarabani, Guruve and many other areas and observed that the process went well. I commend everyone for being disciplined. We support Vision 2030 and CAB3,” the supporter said.

Politburo member Cde Kenneth Musanhi urged party members to remain united, while Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Honourable Christopher Magomo highlighted ongoing development and agricultural programmes in the province.

“There is much development taking place in our province as we work towards Vision 2030, including road construction projects. The focus is now on wheat production and people should take advantage of government programmes,” Honourable Magomo said.

The meeting also reviewed resolutions from the ZANU PF 130th Central Committee session, with members encouraged to familiarise themselves with amendments to the party constitution and their responsibilities within the ruling party.
