VICE President Colonel (Retired) Dr Kembo Mohadi has conducted an inspection tour of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The visit forms part of Government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the facility is ready to play a key role when Zimbabwe co-hosts the global tournament alongside Namibia and South Africa.

The 10 000-seater stadium, whose construction began in 2024 following the laying of the foundation stone by President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, is being developed through a partnership involving Zimbabwe Cricket, Government and the International Cricket Council.

The facility is expected to serve as a world-class sports and tourism hub in Victoria Falls, enhancing the resort city’s profile on the global sporting map.

As preparations gather pace for the 2027 World Cup, the stadium is set to strengthen Zimbabwe’s hosting capacity while boosting sports tourism and creating wider economic opportunities in the region.
