THE Victoria Falls Rainforest has recorded a 30 percent increase in daily tourist numbers over the past three months, a move which confirms the tourism capital as a destination of choice.
Statistics released by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) show that about 1300 visitors have been touring the rainforest daily in the past three months.
This represents a 30 percent increase from last year’s figures.
The rainforest was a hive of activity this Monday with tourists from the United States of America and South Africa having an unforgettable experience at the stunning waterfall, lush vegetation and diverse wildlife.
“We saw the beautiful waterfalls. The waterfalls are gorgeous. Everyone must come to Zimbabwe and see Victoria Falls, it’s a beautiful landmark, this a low season but it is still credible,” said a stunned tourist.
“This morning we saw beautiful falls, I recommend everybody to visit in a lifetime. This is really something spectacular. The Falls are fantastic, it was breathtaking, especially the mist,” said another.
“Seeing Victoria Falls live for the first time was breathtaking. I was surprised how much water was there, this is what everyone in the world should see,” another tourist said.
The Victoria Falls Rainforest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has long been a major drawcard for tourists and adventure seekers.
“From August, September, and October comparing the 2023 and the 2024 statistics, it is showing that on a daily average, there were 1000 people visiting Victoria Falls in 2023 as compared to an average of 1 300 visiting in 2024,” Zimparks Ecologist, Ms Maxine Tadyanehondo said.
“Victoria Falls is still a destination of choice, all our domestic and international tourists should continue to visit Victoria Falls. The activities are still there, Victoria Falls is still roaring,” noted Matabeleland North Province Regional Manager, Mr Daniel Mpande.
Victoria Falls continues to evolve, with new developments and initiatives aimed at preserving the natural beauty of the area, while enhancing the visitor experience.
