TEAM Zimbabwe to the African Junior championships set for Zambia at the end of this month is not leaving anything to chance ahead of the sporting extravaganza.
The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring junior athletes are ready to mount a serious challenge at the combined junior African championships set for Ndola, Zambia from the 29th of April to the 3rd of May.
Head coach, Lisimati Phakamile outlined the team’s road map which begins with a camp in Harare this weekend.
“The national athletics of Zimbabwe is preparing a team of youths and juniors that are set to participate in combined Africa youth and junior championships that are set for Ndola from the 29th to the 3rd of May in Zambia,” he said.
The team is scheduled to camp in Harare this coming weekend and depart thereafter for Ndola. The athletes that are in the camp have been selected through various podiums and stages of the competition, which include the NASH competitions held in Marondera and the final selection held in Bulawayo.”
“Some athletes came from various clubs and schools across the country,” he added.
Also made up of coaches Bright Nhubu and Aaron White, Team Zimbabwe has athletes selected from various competitions including NASH.
The final selection process was held at White City Stadium in Bulawayo during the NAAZ junior championships a fortnight ago.
