TALEN Vision have intensified their bid for promotion to the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League after reuniting with former Highlanders player Mkhuphali Masuku as head coach.

The ambitious Southern Region Division One outfit underlined their title credentials with a dominant 5-0 victory over Khami Prison at the weekend as the race for top-flight football gathers momentum.

TALEN Vision, who have narrowly missed out on promotion in previous campaigns, are currently third in the ZIFA Southern Region Division One standings after eight rounds of matches, four points behind log leaders Hwange.

The Filabusi-based side is currently using Bulawayo as its temporary base while construction of its home ground continues.

Despite the emphatic victory, Masuku believes the team still needs to improve if it is to secure promotion.

“We had a bad first half, but we went and rectified in the second half, hence it paid dividends. We need to improve and have that cutting edge,” he said.

The club has also strengthened its technical bench with the addition of championship-winning coach Lizwe Sweswe, who famously guided Tsholotsho to Premier Soccer League promotion.

Elsewhere, former Highlanders coach Try Ncube is spearheading Harare City’s promotion challenge in the Northern Region Division One League.

Harare City currently top the standings with 18 points from nine matches, while Ngezi Platinum Stars Under-19 sit second, one point behind.

In the ZIFA Central Region Division One League, Chapungu lead the table with 19 points from seven matches, followed by West Nicholson on 16 points, while Gwanda Pirates FC remain in the top four.

Former Premier Soccer League side Yadah continue to set the pace in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One League with 21 points.
