Suspected armed robbers linked to Kambuzuma High 1 School robbery in the dock

Story by Peter Chivhima, Courts Reporter

TWO suspected robbers, Farai Maramwidze aged 28 and Pearson Bukuta (37), appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court this Monday, facing allegations of robbing Kambuzuma High 1 School in Harare.

It is the state’s case that on the 18th of last month, the duo allegedly approached John Utete who was manning the school premises and tied his hands and legs using a string and his waist belt before entering the accounts office where they blew a safe and got away with more than US$600 and laptops.

The duo’s luck ran out when the police was informed that a man identified as Maramwidze had a laptop stolen at the scene.

A follow up was made leading to the arrest of one Banny Zinyoro and subsequent recovery of an HP Laptop with the screen saver of the laptop being that of the school’s SDC bursar.

The arrest of Maramwidze and Zinyoro led to the arrest of another prime suspect, Bukuta.

In their initial court appearance, the duo were asked to approach the High Court for bail application.

In another case, a Chinese national, Li Bowen aged 33 is in trouble for allegedly duping a Harare man of US$200 000 in a botched cash transfer deal.

The court heard that on the 18th of last month, Bowen misrepresented to one, Edson Makuvise that he could give him cash if he transfers US$200 000 into his account.

Robert reportedly started to be evasive after the complainant had transferred the money into his account.
