TWO brothers have been arrested in Bulawayo in connection with a spate of violent crimes, including attempted murder, rape, and robbery.
The pair of Enock Mukumbi aged 26 and Roy Mukumbi aged 23, both artisanal miners from Upper Rangemore, are alleged to have terrorised residents in several Bulawayo suburbs between December 2024 and February this year.
The breakthrough came after a stolen cellphone was recovered from a Cowdray Park dealer, who identified Enock Mukumbi, using the alias Tinashe Mazorodze, as the seller.
This led police to set a trap for Enock at a shop along Lobengula Street, where he was apprehended while attempting to sell another stolen phone.
During questioning, Enock implicated his younger brother, Roy, as his accomplice.
He was arrested in Gokwe after trying to evade the police.
The duo is accused of several offences, including robbery, assault, attempted murder and rape in Nkulumane, Emganwini, Pumula South and Pelandaba West suburbs.
Police recovered weapons which include machetes, axes and knives, believed to have been used in committing the crimes.
