THE inaugural National Policy Expo has been hailed as a strategic platform for shaping policies that support sustainable economic growth, with policymakers, industry leaders and academics calling for stronger collaboration to advance Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 agenda.
Held recently in Harare, the expo, hosted by The Policy Hub, brought together public sector officials, corporate executives, captains of industry and academics to deliberate on policy frameworks that strengthen institutional governance and promote sustainable national development.
Speaking at the event, Board Member of The Policy Hub, Mr Pofela Ndzozi, said national development requires coordinated action across all sectors.
“The National development question cannot be answered from one sector alone; it requires joint thinking, disciplined coordination and a shared commitment to practical policy implementation. This platform reflects the breadth of issues that must shape Zimbabwe’s readiness for Vision 2030. Food security, transportation, infrastructure, and financial inclusion are not mere themes but rather interconnected pillars of national resilience and inclusive development,” Mr Ndzozi said.
Institute of African Knowledge Chief Executive Officer Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi said African governments must take ownership of their national brands and identity, as they are a critical gateway for investment.
“The issue of brand ownership and identity is at the centre of the Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo ideology, and national development is a foundational issue that cannot be ignored, and governments must invest heavily in the issue of the story if we are to advance national development,” he said.
Political Scientist Mr Richard Mahomva said all sectors must be strategically positioned to fill in knowledge gaps for the attainment of Vision 2030
“We should be able to unpack resolutions that speak to sustainability. We now need to start thinking of how governance is going to look and fill in the knowledge gap where those in tourism, logistics, telecoms should be strategically positioned to avoid the winds of political nature,” he said.
The inaugural expo was held under the theme of guaranteeing private and public sector governance excellence- attainment and readiness in the aftermath of the Constitutional Amendment No.3 Bill.
